We Are the Change That We Seek…October 2019

Change is a perpetual part of the cycle of life.
We are alive.
Spontaneously, without conscious thought; we are driven by desires, dreams, wishes, attachments, addictions, expectations, hopes, fears, and so the list goes on. All these allow us to experience life in a kaleidoscope of deep and sometimes wondrous change. Yet change, for many of us who desire control, can feel terrifying.

We can feel this palpable pressure in the air. It pretty much makes for the perfect internal storm. A layer of tightness, subtle yet ever-present. A buzzing which helps us to know that something just doesn't feel right. A dash of unease in the chest that seems to radiate down the ribcage, only to pool in the solar plexus.

This terrifying storm which is brewing has a name. The name? Stress. For some of us, it is accompanied by anxiety. Unchecked it can whip up into a frenzied panic. What are you going to do now? Feed it? Fight it? Run from it? Be paralyzed by it? Or (my personal favorite) deny it?

Here is a crazy thought. Breathe into it. Give it a name.

" I am feeling overwhelmed"

breath in <pause> breath out

"I have no idea what to do in this moment"

breath in <pause> breath out

"I hate that the news has me so stressed out" breath in <pause> breath out

"I have so much to do!"

breath in <pause> breath out

"I'm afraid I'll be single forever"

breath in <pause> breath out

"I have to talk to my kid"

breath in <pause> breath out

Create a statement for how you are feeling. Then breathe into it. I promise it won't kill you. In fact it will free you. The breath brings acceptance. Acceptance brings peace. Acceptance is a key point of allowing an end to the continuous spiral.

I am not saying that you have to like the environment in which you find yourself. A foundation of acceptance will help you find your own personal footing. At any point of transformation, a person has to accept the current conditions in order to create deeper change.

Again, change is a perpetual part of the cycle of life.

This is your time to step into your world. Not the world created by your brain on stress. You are not alone in feeling doubt and fear; it is happening on a global scale. We are all feeling it. Rise above this fog and breathe in some clarity.

Some other stress hacks:

Meditate and get back in to your flow. Taking time to get quiet is not only a gift to yourself-- it is a way to realign with your true essence. Close your eyes and take a breath in order to see the road ahead.

Follow through. We all want to take steps to get to our next level. We plan. We visualize. We talk about it. We take the steps. But why don't we follow through? A bit more effort will yield a stronger (sometimes greater) outcome.

Do some spontaneous exercise. Squats, pushups, jumping jacks, a brisk walk.... anything to get your blood going and to change the chemicals in your brain.

Lastly; Allow for support. ( psst... I'm here for you..)

Have fun moving through life.

Don't give up.

BE the change

Know that you are LOVED

Create a beautiful day.

LOVE your way,

T
